1) What was your strategy going into the Main Match?
My strategy going into the MM is to know what everyone have and what they are trying to get, and slowly work towards the goal by trading with people who has what I have, and making sure they dont have the stuff they need to complete the trade. Looking at my hand, I thought that I had a good chance completing GOLD, OIL (since I have 2 out of 6), or BOMB (since I have 1 already, and if anyone else wanna give it to me).
However, I guess this proved harder than I thought it'd be, i can track down cards from multiple people quickly (Rexxy, Joshua, Arnold and Trevor all showed their hand to me), only Kevin and Joseph decided to be a little more secretive with their hand, only revealing what they need and what they have. I did a minispread sheet to know what I can get, to possibly win the game, and I realise that I have a better chance with steel . Arnold and I had a plan very early on to get Steel, since we both had 2 each, and that requires him to get one from Trevor, and me to get one from Joseph and Rexxy. Of course this was not easy because everyone was hoarding their cards, simple strategy right? If people dont have all the cards, they cant monopolize. And that does slowed things down alot, I'm having middle race flashbacks
2) What do you think about the lack of trades at the beginning of the Main Match?
It does made things a little slow, and we cant seem to get the momentum going at certain points, there were days where there was no trade at all, as such the communications slowed down alot. I kinda felt that this was unavoidable because of the objective of the game, it does feel like a downer at the start, since I thought things would be alot better moving away from middle race. But it did picked up its momentum a while later ~Saturday morning, after Joseph began trading with more people. Well, lucky you had that contingency plan, if not I guess this game would take forever if nothing concrete happened
That would be fun to play though, and it makes things alot easier to work out (I assume regular trades would still be available together with the compulsory trade right?) People would be more inclined to let go of their bombs, and if the rule would be implemented, I'd be playing bombs.
3) Why do you decide to eventually give the Token of Life to Arnold?
Well, we had a deal from Day 1 and it's time to finally work together after soo long! And since we kinda split the Steel we had half-half so it makes perfect sense for me to give the immunity to him. The image I'm trying to show the others is that Arnold and I worked together just for this MM to gather steel, so that we both gets immunity, and I give him the winning garnets to show that I'm more interested in the safety and not like we are working together long term.
Hope they would be convinced with what I have hahaha. So that we can go back to low-key working together the next MM again .
4) What do you think about Joseph choosing Rexxy for the Death Match?
that is... not good. I hope it is not my fault that Joseph chooses Rexxy just because it is obvious that I'm working with Rexxy all the past few games, and I totally didnt give Joseph a chance to state his case before picking him, which seemed that I have the intention to pick him right off the bat (which is true but idk him to feel that way)
I know both of them are pretty good so there will be a good game to expect coming from them, but it kinda sucks for me that I didnt protect Rexxy well enough, especially him telling Joshua that I should be kept safe from here on out just because I already have a huge target :')
5) What do you think about the Death Match?
two-sided poker is indeed a fun game, I hope I'll be able to enjoy this game right here just like in the broadcast. Especially its coming from Rexxy (who is really good in a lot of games, including DM (the one he had with Tom) [Tom gets a random appearance and name drop in MM#7 ]), Joseph is pretty good too, I havent get a good read of him so far up till now, so this is a good opportunity to see what he can do. He seems pretty smart and knows what he's doing most of the time, and also after 7MM this is the first time he loses something and gets picked for DM, for someone to avoid 6DM despite not winning any MM is indeed impressive .
I'll be enjoying and hoping the better person would win, and I do hope i could work with that person moving forward.
6) Who do you prefer to move on to the next round?
Rexxy thats for sure. I've been trying to keep rexxy safe all these while, but this time I failed to do so, I hope this doesnt bring trouble to him so that I could continue working with him moving forward. He's my number 1 go-to guy for planning strategies, I stiill need him now
As for Joseph, I openly picked him for the DM, which is not good for me if he managed to stay alive, cos I bet he would come after me for sure! Right now, I'm still trying my best to repair what I had with him so that moving forward we could work together if he survives. He's a nice guy, we had good talks before, just that we were on the wrong side for the past few games, which resulted in the divide between us :/
